John Dyer was one of the first sixteen Colorado pioneers honored with a stained glass portrait in the Colorado state capitol. He was so honored because he brought civility and stability to mining camps. John was a Methodist circuit preacher who established churches but was equally at home preaching in saloons. He came to Colorado in 1861 and was influential until his death in 1901.
